The basic principle
*Each round includes three darts.
*A dart that breaks or falls off the board cannot be scored or re-thrown. The tournament's 5-second rule requires that after the third dart is thrown, any dart must remain on the board for at least 5 seconds in order to score.
*Basically, darts is a game between two players or two teams of players. The group may consist of two or more members. Team members on both sides take alternate throws.
*The nine throws before the start of the game can usually be used as an individual warm-up before the game and to determine who starts throwing darts first for each person or team. The team with the darts thrown closest to the bullseye starts first.
*Each player throws a round of darts when it is his turn, and then the player retrieves his own darts. If a player releases his dart with his foot over the throwing line or accidentally trips, the point does not count and there may be no chance of a re-throw.
*According to the 5 second rule, the dart must remain on the dart board for more than 5 seconds. If the dart falls off or another dart is inserted, no points will be awarded.
*Players can approach the dart board at any time to confirm the position of the darts, but no one can touch the darts until a round has been thrown.
*No one should stand within 2 feet of a player who is throwing darts, out of consideration and safety.
